Braiding and Wiring up
The most time consuming job was cable braiding – it takes a lot of patience to get it right. I had to sleeve all the additional cables like watercooling pump, all the LEDs, fans and switches, etc. Because I added so many custom cables I had to create a junction box to fit it all in.
It was a simple, small black plastic box with all the cable connections and soldering gathered inside. I have added small 3 pin connectors to every single cable for quick connection/disconnection in case I needed to take the case apart or diagnose why bits my not be working: it was hand soldered after all!
At the end I added some small decorations: Biohazard logos and my “Phinix Cube” signs on both side panels were both cut from red acrylic. The last part that was purchased was a small 2.5in 7200rpm WD Scorpio Black hard drive that was squeezed next to the PSU. I realised I needed more space purely for games installation as, despite being fast, the Vertex was limited in capacity.
